I use SheetCam to generate gcode from DXF and the Solidworks eDrawings DXF previewer. What gives? Why can't Inkscape correctly export the scale of the original image? I have confirmed that other tools also interpret the exported dxf with severely incorrect dimensions, so this appears to be an export issue, not an import issue. Better DXF Output is an extension for Inkscape 0.46 that improves the DXF output to be more suitable for CNC operations. And you can also change your page size, if it's not what you need. So I would suggest to go ahead and open the DXF in Inkscape, and then scale it to the size you need.

The size can be changed at any time, without affecting the quality. System information: Running Inkscape 1.1 (c68e22c387, ), Windows 10 64-bit. Since DXF is a vector format, it probably doesn't matter what size it is. (1) In Fusion 360, extrude a sketch to a shallow body (even if you dont need 3D), or use any body in your design. Select "Include SVG as editable object(s)."Įxpected outcome: A copy of the original 100mm x 100mm square is now in the file.Īctual output: A new grossly incorrect size square of dimensions 375.887mm x 375.887mm is in the file. Here is another work-around that seems to be reliable to create dxf or svg files from sketches. Exporting a dxf R12 version results in dxf objects that are scaled up/down if the document scale is not 1.Base Unit "mm" (as this is the unit everything else is in).

Draw a rectangle, set the units to 100mm x 100mm.Set the "scale" to 1 (since the "user units" are in mm, 1mm=1mm) System information: Running Inkscape 1.1 (c68e22c387, ), Windows 10 64-bit.I'm having a world of a time trying to get inkscape to export DXF files in any predictable way.
